The coastline from Revere down to East Boston has sandy beaches, salt marshes and maritime forest that can be great for birdwatching in late summer. Explore these coastal habitats for sandpipers, plovers, and terns. Specialty birds we hope to see as well, include: Salt Marsh Sparrow, American Oystercatcher, and possibly a Western Sandpiper.
Meet at Belle Isle Marsh Reservation, 1399 Bennington St., Boston, MA. We'll travel by carpool to other locations.
Bring binoculars, a field guide to birds, and a scope if you have one. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and terrain. Participants should expect to walk trails with moderate terrain changes at a slow pace, for a mile or more.
Masks are required in Mass Audubon vehicles.
