Summer Fun in New Bedford

Children playing in a channel of water

Mass Audubon educators have been spending time exploring the amazing wildlife and wild places of New Bedford with the Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) campers as part of the Explore Your Environment Summer Program. Located in the South End of New Bedford, this program provides youth with the opportunity to ride bikes to local areas for exploration. So far this summer they have observed many species of crabs, fish, turtles, osprey hunting, oyster catchers, glossy ibis, sandpipers, egrets, and more along the coast! Their participants are eager each week for more hands-on learning and are never shy to raise hands with questions or to answer with confidence.

We will continue our collaborate with Y.O.U. in the fall with after school programs and on-site field trips for New Bedford schools!
