This online program will focus on creative nonfiction in nature and environmental writing, specifically the personal essay. You'll receive a few short essays to read prior to our meeting and in the first of this 2-session class we'll discuss the readings in regard to technique and content, and then spend much of our time writing from prompts. In between sessions, you'll craft your own piece so that in the second, we'll discuss our writing experience, have time to share our writing, and spend more class time practicing our craft with additional prompts. Please note that sharing your writing is optional, and writers will also be given the opportunity to receive positive feedback from the group if they wish.
Presenter: Kim Hoff, Teacher/Naturalist at Arcadia, a nature writer and essayist who has written for Mass Audubon's Explore and just had an essay published with Northern Woodlands Magazine.
This course is appropriate for writers of all levels. Level 1 is not a pre-requisite for Level 2, though familiarity with nature and environmental writing is helpful.
