Massachusetts' North Shore is a wonderful place to observe ducks, geese, and swans, a group of birds collectively known as waterfowl. Many species are migratory and have returned to our area from their northern breeding grounds. We'll focus on waterfowl, but of course, leaders will stop for anything interesting. Birdwatching venues will include the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Cherry Hill Reservoir, Merrimack River, and Salisbury Beach State Reservation.
Meet at Joppa Flats Education Center. From there we will travel by Mass Audubon vans. Bring binoculars, a field guide to birds, and a scope if you have one. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and terrain.
Masks are optional indoors and outdoors; they are required in Mass Audubon vehicles. Anyone wishing to travel in a Mass Audubon vehicle must bring their vaccination record (actual or photo) for visual confirmation. Carpooling is encouraged for those who do not wish to travel in a Mass Audubon vehicle.
Mass Audubon cancellation policy: If you wish to withdraw less than seven days prior to the program, refunds cannot be issued. If Mass Audubon cancels the program, you will receive a full refund.
