June 03, 2025

Cape Cod's diverse habitats—from sandy shores to salt marshes—offer an incredible natural classroom where science and nature come alive. Since 1986, Cape Cod Field Schools have provided immersive two and three-day courses featuring hands-on exploration and discovery guided by professional naturalists, scientists, and artists.

Each field school brings a unique opportunity to dive deep into the natural history of the Outer Cape while making unforgettable memories. With small group sizes and endless adventure, here are 5 experiences you won’t want to miss.

New Offerings

Experience three exciting new programs this year, diving deeper into the Cape’s natural wonders. Paddle and hike through island habitats in Islands of Cape Cod by Land and Sea (June 20–22), explore nature’s rhythms in Waxing, Waning, and Wellness (October 4–5), and scan the shoreline for feathered visitors in Winter Ducks and Seabirds (November 7–9). Each experience offers a fresh, hands-on way to connect with the season and the science of the Cape.

“I have been attending Mass Audubon field schools through Wellfleet Bay for almost 10 years through a variety of programs. Each one has been well planned; the leaders are knowledgeable and clearly care about my learning experience. Through these programs, I have formed new friendships and gained a greater understanding of our beautiful Cape environment.”
