Every day is an adventure at Stony Brook Nature Camp.
Trail explorations, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and more provide full ecosystem immersion for an enhanced learning experience, while small group sizes ensure a welcoming, supportive environment. Learn more about our programs and see session dates for the upcoming summer camp season.
2026 Camp Pricing
Prices shown represent a range based on a sliding scale. A sliding scale pricing structure makes camp affordable for every family by removing financial barriers and expanding access to camp for families in an easy, dependable, and confidential process. Please note: All camp families registering at Tiers 4 or 5 must have an active membership at the family level or higher for the duration of the camp session.
Nature Camp
Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–3:30 pm
Themed weekly sessions: June 22-August 21
Age-appropriate activities deepen campers’ knowledge and awareness of nature as they return throughout the summer and over the years. Each one-week session has a different theme to investigate, including Winged Wonders, Can you Dig It, Habitat Detectives and Nature Nuts!

Discoverers • Ages 4-5
Through outdoor explorations, crafts, games, songs, and stories, campers are introduced to the wide diversity of life around them. See available sessions

Wanderers • Ages 5-6
Wanderers learn about Stony Brook’s many ecosystems and what may be found within them. Simple observations and investigations build a foundation of interest and desire to learn more in years to come. Wanderers begin their initiation into the natural world through short hikes, hands-on activities, and creative endeavors. See available sessions

Ramblers • Ages 7-8
Ramblers conduct ecosystem investigations on daily outings, using their senses to identify familiar species of plants and animals. Ramblers are encouraged to explore their own areas of interest and further develop their social skills as they participate in activities, games, and crafts. See available sessions

Explorers • Ages 9-11
Explorers study their surrounding environment in-depth, learning about complex ecological concepts. This group explores the far reaches of Stony Brook as they participate in activities, games, and crafts. See available sessions

Specialty Camps
Monday-Friday, 9:00 am–3:30 pm
Delve deeper into specialty science topics or art with programs designed for older campers, ages 9–15.

It's Art Naturally • Ages 11–13 • June 29-July 3
Be inspired by the natural beauty around us through the lens of nature and the grounds of Stony Brook. With drawing materials, cardboard, papier-mâché, and recycled and found objects, we will create functional and decorative masterpieces of all shapes and sizes. Get the details

Wildlife Detectives • Ages 9–11 • July 13-17
There’s mystery afoot at Stony Brook! Break out your magnifying glass and fingerprint powder. Search the scene, pursue the clues, find the signs, and solve the crime. Join Stony Brook’s CSI (Camp Scene Investigation) team and see if you have what it takes to “follow the evidence.” Thursday evening. Campers may stay for dinner, campfire, and a night hike until 10:00pm or leave at the regular time. Get the details

Kingfisher Quest • Ages 9-11 • July 20-24
Join in this grand quest spanning the sanctuary as we seek the lost ancient closing circle talisman. Work cooperatively to solve riddles, locate hidden clues, piece together perplexing puzzles and use your natural history knowledge to find where the “craven avian” is hidden. Stand alone and the talisman will remain forever obscured—stand together and triumph! Thursday evening, campers may stay for dinner, campfire, and a night hike until 10:00pm, or leave at the regular time. Get the details

Identification Olympics • Ages 12-14 • August 3-7
Lat year we identified over 60 species of everything from dragonflies and birds to trees and frogs as we crisscross the sanctuary in search of all creatures great and small! During the week, your team’s challenge is to beat our record by finding more different species of plants and animals! Master the use of binoculars, and other science equipment, mark and recapture dragonflies, and aid Stony Brook in our land stewardship efforts You have just one week. Can your team do it? We will contribute our findings to iNaturalist, eBird, and other community science projects. Thursday evening, campers may stay for dinner, campfire, and a night hike until 10:00pm, or leave at the regular time. Get the details

Teen Leadership
Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–3:30 pm
Weekly Sessions: June 23-August 22

Counselors-in-Training • Ages 15–17
Experience the fun, challenges, and rewards of camp as you assist camp counselors. Gain valuable leadership skills and participate in the planning of weekly camper activities, such as nature projects, crafts, songs, and games. Please note: all CITs must commit for at least three weeks. To apply, email or call 508-613-8052.
Extended Day
Pre-registration is required for extended-day programming; you may add this option at checkout when you register your child for camp or call later to add to your camper's session. Sliding scale pricing also applies to extended-day programming.
Before Camp
7:45–9:00 am • Ages 4–10
