Stony Brook Nature Camp: Identification Olympics
Description
Learn how to identify everything from dragonflies and birds to trees and frogs as we crisscross the sanctuary in search of all creatures great and small. Make your own butterfly and dragonfly nets, master the use of binoculars and other science equipment, and aid Stony Brook in our land stewardship efforts.
During the week, your team's challenge is to put your newfound knowledge to work by finding as many different species of plants and animals as you can. We will contribute our findings to iNaturalist, eBird, and other community science projects. Last year we identified over 60 species over the course of the week - can you beat that record this year?
Thursday evening campers may stay for dinner, campfire, and a night hike until 10:00pm, or leave at the regular time.
The camper-to-counselor ratio is 10:1.
