Think of Mass Audubon’s signature Nature Play Areas as outdoor playgrounds made of natural materials that support self-directed adventures, creative building opportunities, and games. At Arcadia’s Nature Play Area, conveniently located a short walk from the Nature Center and the parking lot, you’ll find:  

• A fort made of sustainable materials to play in
• Everything you need to build a fairy home
• Opportunities to practice balance and coordination on a log jam, rock garden, and balance beams  
• Stump steps up to a crow’s nest to climb for a high-up perspective
• A buried tunnel where you can burrow for a worm’s-eye view 
• A grounded sunken rowboat in the woods where seafaring fantasies and adventures unfold
• Picnic tables in the shade, perfect for snack time and watching the fun, plus new benches
