Solar Energy at Allens Pond
Allens Pond has two roof-mounted solar arrays—one on the Field Station and the other on roof of the Tractor Barn.
The chart below shows energy production from Allens Pond's 1.8 kW solar photovoltaic array mounted on the roof of the Field Station. Mouseover the graph or click on any day for more detail. Choose a different date range with the buttons at the top right of the graph.
The chart below shows energy production for the 14.3kW solar array mounted on the roof of the Tractor Barn. This array is expected to generate 18,000kWh per year, which is triple the amount needed for current sanctuary operations.
The surplus production—which is more than 12,000 kWh per year—is supplied to Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary in Barnstable.
