Decades of beaver activity at Wachusett Meadow has produced a variety of wetland habitats supporting abundant wildlife. We will hike to several active beaver territories, focusing on the adaptations that contribute to beaver engineering and survival skills. Beavers do not hibernate, and their winter strategies are fascinating to explore. Along the way we'll look for evidence of mink, river otters and other activity around the pond.
