Looking for a fun outing? Head to Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for a family-friendly drop-in program. These programs are free for Mass Audubon members or included with sanctuary admission—making it easy to explore, learn, and connect with nature together.
Fish Feeding Fun
Saturdays • 12:00-12:30 pm
Thursdays in June, July, & August • 1:30-2:00 pm
Dive into Cape Cod’s underwater world at the sanctuary. Help feed our fish and learn what makes each species unique—from their habitats to how we care for them in our tanks.
Feeder Focus
Select Dates • 1:00-3:00 pm
Step into the exhibit hall and enjoy up-close views of the sanctuary's bustling bird feeders and lively water feature from the comfort of our cozy seating area. Chat with a friendly volunteer naturalist to ask questions, identify species, and uncover fun facts about the birds and other local wildlife you spot.
Volunteer Naturalists on the Trails
Daily in June, July, August, & September • 9:30 am-3:30 pm
As you explore the exhibit hall and sanctuary trails, you may encounter a volunteer naturalist ready to help you uncover the sanctuary’s hidden gems. Stop to ask questions about local wildlife, learn more about Mass Audubon’s mission, and discover upcoming programs and activities.
Coming Back Fall 2026: Nature Play Group & Story Time
Wednesdays • 10:00-11:30 am
Connect with other families as your little one’s imagination soars at the sanctuary’s Nature Play Area, then snuggle into a comfy spot as stories of nature, friendship, and adventure come alive.

Special! Horseshoe Crab Exploration Station
June 20 • 10:00 am-2:00 pm
Celebrate International Horseshoe Crab Day with a hands-on exploration of our native Atlantic horseshoe crab. View specimens, see how scientists study and monitor these living fossils, and learn about their behavior, biology, and conservation.
