Camping at Wellfleet Bay
Uncover one of Cape Cod’s best-kept secrets at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary campground. Immerse yourself in the magic of nature after dark—fall asleep beneath a canopy of stars, surrounded by the whispering pines.
Our 18 rustic campsites provide the perfect retreat for tents, small pop-up trailers, or travel vans, offering a true back-to-nature experience. Please note: camping is exclusively available to Mass Audubon members.
Dates
The 2026 campground season runs June 13 - September 14.
Minimum Stay Requirements
- June through mid-July & September: 2-night minimum
- Mid-July through August (peak season): 7-night minimum
- A limited number of campsites are available for 4-night stays during peak season

Facilities
The campground features 18 rustic campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and trash barrel. Individual sites are level and shady—perfect for pitching your tent. Campers have access to a bathhouse with flush toilets and hot-water showers, as well as shared water spigots providing potable water.
While campfires are not permitted, guests may use personal camp stoves or charcoal grills. The sanctuary’s five miles of walking trails, nature play area for children, and nature center with exhibits are also available for campers to enjoy.
Rates
Campsites are $70 per night. Advance reservations are required.
Refund Policy
Cancellations made up to three weeks before your reservation are eligible for a full refund minus a $50 reservation fee. Reservations cancelled within three weeks of the scheduled stay are non-refundable.
Check-In and Check-Out Times
Check-in is from 3:00-4:30 pm. Please note that we cannot accommodate arrivals earlier than 3:00 pm. Campers must check-in at the front desk and pick up a campground key before setting up on a campsite. Your refundable $50 key deposit is paid in advance while reserving your campsite.
Check-out is no later than 12:00 pm. Upon check-out, please return your keys and vehicle placards. The $50 deposit will be refunded to the credit card associated with your reservation.

Reservations
Campground reservations are available exclusively to Mass Audubon members. Each person in your camping group must have an active Mass Audubon membership at the time of booking, and the membership must remain active for the duration of your stay. Make your reservation online or by calling 774-383-5011. Reservations must be accompanied by payment in full by credit card.
