Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, September 16, 2025

Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between September 10 and September 16, 2025.

A Black-throated Gray Warbler was found on private property in Brewster on Tuesday and a Swainson’s Hawk was photographed over Race Point in Provincetown over the weekend.

Other birds at the Race included a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 2 Red-necked Phalaropes, a Black Guillemot, 9 Parasitic Jaegers, a Sabine’s Gull, 2 Caspian Terns, an Arctic Tern, 5500 Common Terns, 500 Roseate Terns, 3 Black Terns, 150 Cory’s Shearwaters, 50 Great Shearwaters, 50 Manx Shearwaters, a Merlin, a Peregrine Falcon, and a Common Raven.

Two Lark Sparrows were at High Head in North Truro, along with 3 Philadelphia Vireos, a Clay-colored Sparrow, a Lincoln’s Sparrow, a Scarlet Tanager, a Blue-winged Warbler, a Bay-breasted Warbler, 4 Cape May Warblers, and 2 Tennessee Warblers.

Birds at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary included a Hooded Warbler, a Connecticut Warbler, a Golden-winged Warbler, a Philadelphia Vireo, and a Yellow-throated Vireo.

Other sightings around the Cape included 3 Glossy Ibis in Hyannis, a Golden-winged Warbler in West Barnstable, a Little Gull at Great Island in Wellfleet, and 3 Seaside Sparrows and 7 Saltmarsh Sparrows elsewhere in Wellfleet.
