Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, October 14, 2025
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between October 8 and 14, 2025.
The Common Gallinule at Santuit Pond in Mashpee was last seen on the 9th.
A Short-eared Owl was at the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, where other sightings included 4 Northern Pintail, 64 Green-winged Teal, 1000 Common Eider, 3500 Surf Scoters, 7500 White-winged Scoters, 6000 Black Scoters, and 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
Birds at Race Point in Provincetown included 2 Caspian Terns, a Northern Pintail, 2 Parasitic Jaegers, 1071 Cory’s Shearwaters, 175 Great Shearwaters, a Sooty Shearwater, and 47 Manx Shearwaters.
Other sightings around the Cape included a Black Vulture near the Bourne landfill, a Western Sandpiper at Scusset Beach in Sandwich, an early Snow Bunting in Harwich, 2 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons at Hemenway Landing in Eastham, a Black-billed Cuckoo at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary, and a late Eastern Willet in Provincetown Harbor.
