Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, March 24, 2026
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between March 18 and March 24, 2026.
The King Eider continues in Sandwich Marina and surrounding areas.
A Little Blue Heron and a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron were at Hardings Beach in Chatham this week.
Reports from Race Point in Provincetown include a Pacific Loon, an American Oystercatcher, a Black Guillemot, 650 Razorbills, 4 Common Murres, 64 Iceland Gulls including a ‘Thayer’s’ Iceland Gull, a Glaucous Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, a Manx Shearwater, 500 Northern Gannets, and an American Pipit.
A Sandhill Crane flew over Sandwich on the 19th, and other sightings around the Cape included a Northern Shrike in Falmouth, a Short-eared Owl in Sandwich, an Orange-crowned Warbler and a Barrow’s Goldeneye in Mashpee, a Black-headed Gull in Hyannis, a continuing Dickcissel at a feeder in Chatham, and a Willet elsewhere in Chatham.
