Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, June 16, 2026
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between June 10 and June 16, 2026.
Three Mississippi Kites were seen over North Truro on the 14th and single Swallow-tailed Kites were reported in Marstons Mills and Cotuit.
Birds reported at Crane Wildlife Management Area in Falmouth included 2 Dickcissels, a Yellow-breasted Chat and 2 Blue Grosbeaks.
Sightings from Wood End to Race Point in Provincetown this week included 5 American Oystercatchers a Little Gull, a Glaucous Gull, an Iceland Gull, a Black-headed Gull, 2 Arctic Terns, a Black Guillemot, several Sooty and Manx Shearwaters, and 65 Wilson’s Storm-Petrels.
At least two Chuck-will’s-widows continued at Nauset Light Beach in Eastham, and other sightings around the Cape included 2 Gadwall and a Blue-winged Warbler in Falmouth, a Harlequin Duck in Mashpee, 3 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons in West Barnstable plus 2 each in Yarmouth and at Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary, an Alder Flycatcher at Wing Island in Brewster, an Acadian Flycatcher in the Long Pond woodlands of Brewster, a Little Blue Heron in West Harwich, a Black Guillemot and 4 Wilson’s Storm-Petrels at Longnook Beach in North Truro, a late Magnolia Warbler at High Head in North Truro, and a late Blackburnian Warbler in Provincetown.
