Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, July 7, 2026
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between July 1 and July 7, 2026.
A single Swallow-tailed Kite was seen in Marstons Mills this week.
A Royal Tern was seen at Sampson’s Island in Osterville on the 3rd.
Sightings from Race Point in Provincetown this week included 16 Short-billed Dowitchers, a Royal Tern, a Little Gull, 18 Bonaparte’s Gulls, 2 Arctic Terns, 20 Roseate Terns, 20 Wilson’s Storm-Petrels, 2 Great Shearwaters, 13 Sooty Shearwaters, and 7 Manx Shearwaters.
Other sightings around the Cape included a Red Crossbill in Bourne, a Blue Grosbeak in Falmouth, 6 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons in West Barnstable, 2 Little Blue Herons in West Harwich, another Little Blue Heron plus 4 Glossy Ibises in east Harwich, 3 Chuck-will’s-Widows continuing at Nauset Light Beach in Eastham, a likely sick Razorbill in North Chatham and another in Truro, a Pectoral Sandpiper and 9 American Oystercatchers at Forest Beach in Chatham, and 3 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary.
