Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, February 24, 2026
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between February 18 and February 24, 2026.
A Townsend’s Solitaire has been hanging around with a small flock of robins behind Billingsgate Market in South Wellfleet since the 18th.
Northern Shrikes continued in Marstons Mills and Crane WMA Falmouth this week.
At Race Point in Provincetown there were 2 Pacific Loons, 400 Razorbills, 4 Dovekies, 5 Thick-billed Murres, 10 Common Murres, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Glaucous Gull, 75 Iceland Gulls, 4 Red-necked Grebes, and 12 Red-throated Loons.
Other sightings around the Cape included a Killdeer in Woods Hole, an Orange-crowned Warbler visiting a feeder in Mashpee, 2 Chipping Sparrows in Barnstable, a Killdeer and a Black-headed Gull in Hyannis, a Brown Thrasher in Brewster, a Dickcissel continuing at a feeder in Chatham, 3 Wood Ducks among hundreds of waterfowl at Town Cove in Orleans, 3 Barrow’s Goldeneyes in Wellfleet Harbor, and a Red Crossbill and 21 Purple Finches in a yard in Truro.
