Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, February 17, 2026

Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between February 11 and February 17, 2026.

Northern Shrikes were seen in Marstons Mills, Falmouth, and Provincetown this week.

At Race Point in Provincetown there were at least 3 Pacific Loons, 800 Razorbills, 2 Dovekie, 2 Thick-billed Murres, 7 Common Murres, a Glaucous Gull, 24 Iceland Gulls, a Red-necked Grebe, and an Ipswich Savannah Sparrow.

Birds in Chatham included a Western Willet at Forest Beach, and a Baltimore Oriole and a Dickcissel visiting feeders in different yards.

Other sightings around the Cape included up to 4 Barrow’s Goldeneye at Scusset Beach in Sandwich plus another at Loop Beach in Cotuit and two in Wellfleet Harbor, an Orange-crowned Warbler visiting a feeder in Mashpee plus another in Chatham, 3 Tree Swallows at Sandy Neck in Barnstable, single Chipping Sparrows at feeding stations several places, a Killdeer in Hyannis, a Black-headed Gull in Centerville, a Brown Thrasher and 3 Red Crossbills in Brewster, 4 Wood Ducks among hundreds of waterfowl at Town Cove in Orleans, and another Brown Thrasher in Wellfleet.
