Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, December 30, 2025
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between December 24 and December 30, 2025.
A male and female King Eider and an estimated 34,000 Common Eiders were in North Chatham this week.
The male Painted Bunting continued at a feeder in Brewster this week.
A Clay-colored Sparrow and a Northern Shrike continue at Crane WMA in Falmouth.
A Dickcissel and a Black Vulture were seen in Orleans this week.
Birds at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, 1889 Razorbills, 2 Common Murres, 3 Dovekies, 16 Iceland Gulls, 25 Black-legged Kittiwakes, a Common Raven, and an American Pipit.
Reports from Cold Brook Preserve in Harwich included 6 late Tree Swallows, 5 continuing Northern Shovelers, and an Orange-crowned Warbler.
Other sightings around the Cape included 3 Tree Swallows in Sandwich, a continuing Eurasian Wigeon in Yarmouth Port and another in Sandwich, up to 2 Barrow’s Goldeneyes at Loop Beach in Cotuit, a Black-headed Gull at Ocean Ave Beach in Hyannis, a Great Egret and 6 Greater Yellowlegs at Bell’s Neck Rd in Harwich, a Long-billed Dowitcher and 4 Western Willets in Chatham, a Short-eared Owl in Eastham, 11 Bohemian Waxwings in North Truro, and 2 Evening Grosbeaks in Provincetown.
