What's New at Drumlin Farm this Summer
May 29, 2025
Summer is bursting with activity here at Drumlin Farm. From new animals to live music, explore the exciting things we have in store for you in the coming months.
Fiddler on the Farm
If you’ve come to our Halloween event Tales of the Night, you may have heard the toe-tapping tunes of Lower Quarters, a local fiddle and guitar duo. Musicians Thomas Perry and Nikki Shattuck will bring their strings back to the farm for several Sunday afternoons throughout the summer.
Enjoy a mixed set of old-time instrumentals and folk/Americana songs, harmony sing-a-longs, and both popular and original children's music. Waltz away the afternoon as you visit the sheep, pigs, and goats and explore the trails!
Lower Quarters will perform in the afternoons on Sundays June 8, June 29, July 6, July 13, and August 17 (as weather permits).
New Animal Arrivals
Cows and goats and pigs, oh my! We’ve welcomed several new animals to the farm recently.
Check out Maybel the goat’s triplets bouncing around in the pasture or stop by the Pig Barn to see six new piglets. Gloria, our new Holstein dairy cow, also had her first calf shortly after arriving. The two currently reside in a stall in the Red Barn. Once acclimated, they will move in with the other cows and spend time grazing outside.
If you’ve been over by the chicken coops, you’ve likely met our animal ambassador rabbit, Onyx. He turned 10 this year, so our wildlife care team decided it was time for him to retire and live life on the quiet side in our wildlife care facility. However, a new rabbit named Elroy has moved in, taking Onyx’s place in the farmyard. Make sure to say hi when you visit!
Sweet Wednesday Benefit Concert
Spread out your picnic blankets and kick back for a summer evening of music! Boston-based folk band Sweet Wednesday brings their whimsical acoustics to Drumlin Farm on Saturday, July 26 (rain date August 9).
For one night only, the farm will be open after hours for the performance. From upbeat shanties to sweet lyrical ballads, their music appeals to all ages.
The band is graciously donating their time to Drumlin Farm with this benefit concert, which will help support all the work we do. The event will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, and tickets will be available soon, so stay tuned.
Farm Stand and CSA Season
Our crops team has been hard at work in the fields growing veggies and herbs to bring directly to you. The farm stand will be open for business every Saturday and Sunday starting in early June. You’ll find fresh, seasonal produce and other farm products for sale next to the visitor center, from salad greens and scallions to eggs and honey. We also bring the bounty closer to the city with a stall at the Union Square Farmers Market in Somerville on Saturdays.
CSA season has also begun, with members receiving a guaranteed selection of produce every week. Spring CSA shares have already begun, but you can still grab a spot for summer and fall
