Still looking for a Halloween costume? Draw inspiration from the world of Mass Audubon with these festive starter packs. Each idea pays homage to well-known characters around the state that embody what makes our community so special.

1. Ms. G, The Official State Groundhog of Massachusetts
While Punxsutawney Phil has more national acclaim, here in Massachusetts we have our own celebrity woodchuck. Ms. G has been forecasting the weather at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln since 2003. In 2014, Wellesley school students joined Mass Audubon in securing Ms. G as the Official State Groundhog through Massachusetts state legislature.
Will we have a late fall or will it be an early winter? Look for your shadow and predict the weather this Halloween!
2. Rescued Cold-Stunned Sea Turtle
Brrr! Bundle up and tap into your turtle power for this rescued sea turtle fit. When temperatures drop and sea turtles can't find their way out of the Cape Cod hook, Wellfleet Bay and a team of volunteers and partners step in to get them back on track. For this costume, you'll need a turtle shell, warm clothes, a fake antenna tracker, and the iconic banana boxes that the real turtles are transported in.
3. Snowy Owl from the Snowy Owl Project
Snowy Owls, the largest owl in North America by body mass, is equal parts graceful beauty and efficient predator. Embody the iconic, elusive, and crowd-drawing nature of the Snowy Owl this Halloween with speckled patterns, talons, and piercing yellow eyes.
For decades, the Snowy Owl Project has relocated owls from Logan Airport, where they pose risks to both themselves and people. The project also tracks and studies the owls as they migrate to and from Massachusetts.
4. North American Beaver, October's Go Wild for Wildlife Animal of the Month
This October, as part of our yearlong celebration of wildlife, we're deconstructing the world of our hardest working ecosystem engineer: the North American Beaver. These busy mammals create their world using a keen understanding of their environment and some large front teeth. For Halloween, grab some construction gear and sticks for a simple but powerful costume.
5. Boots the Fox
Maybe the closest our wildlife ambassadors have gotten to social influencer status, Boots the Fox is a relatively recent and widely celebrated addition to Drumlin Farm in Lincoln. To emulate his sought after personality, don the black boots of his namesake, bright orange clothes, and of course, a tail.
BONUS: Mass Audubon's Beloved Birders
Our biggest superstars of all? The people that notice, value, and care for the wonderful world of birds. If you're already a birder, this might be the easiest costume of the list. Just bust out your trusty binoculars, Merlin app, and signature "points". Bucket hats, bird shirts, and vests with lots of pockets complete the look.
Happy Halloween!
