Conserving Energy

  • Energy audit completed and some recommendations implemented
  • All incandescent light bulbs have been replaced with LED bulbs
  • High efficiency LED lighting installed

  • Refrigerators have been replaced with EnergyStar models
  • Replaced computer monitors with energy efficient computer monitors
  • Dehumidifier was replaced with an EnergyStar model
  • Programmable thermostat installed
  • Electric-powered property management equipment purchased and in use

Buying Electricity Generated from Renewable Sources

  • 100% green electricity purchased from Green Energy Consumers Alliance (New England Wind product) for all electricity not produced on site

Generating Renewable Energy

  • Photovoltaic array (14.7 kW ground mount) installed in 2011
  • Photovoltaic array (10.05 kW roof mount) installed in 2019

  • Super-insulation used in Nature Center bathroom addition and Education and Camp Barn
  • Day-lighting in Nature Center bathroom addition

Conserving Water

  • 10 dual-flush toilets installed

Enhancing Energy Education

  • Interpretation of energy and water conservation features and photovoltaic array
  • Photovoltaic array electricity production on internet in real time
