Description
The ever-changing coastline of Cape Cod is vibrant, diverse, and dynamic. Barrier beaches, salt marshes, tidal flats, coastal heathlands, and maritime forests are just some of the incredible systems we will explore in this series of hikes that celebrate these unique and essential habitats dotting our coastline.
In the 19th century, Bound Brook was a thriving farming community. The Cape Cod National Seashore has preserved broad swaths of land on the island and maintains the historical Atwood-Higgins House. We will circle the island on foot using dirt roads and a stretch of isolated Cape Cod Shoreline. This hike is 4mi in length and portions include walking on soft sand.
During the program, we make stops to enjoy birds, other wildlife, and the area's unique cultural history. We will also take water breaks and stop for lunch.
