Hike the Provincelands to Race Point Light

Description

Cape Cod's coastline is never the same twice. At Hatches Harbor the land gives way to the open dunes of the Provincelands, a shifting landscape of sand, salt marsh, and sky at the very tip of the Cape.

You'll traverse it with a Wellfleet Bay naturalist, hiking 4 miles toward Race Point Light and scanning the water for whales, seals, sea ducks, alcids, and whatever else the March ocean turns up. Stops along the way ensure plenty of time to enjoy the birds, wildlife, and cultural history layered into this landscape.

Portions of the route cross soft sand, so plan on a workout with a view.
