Description
Cape Cod Bay beaches become the scene of one of New England's most dramatic conservation stories each fall, when cold water temperatures strand hundreds of juvenile sea turtles along miles of shoreline. On this guided family beach walk, you'll search for cold-stunned turtles alongside a Wellfleet Bay educator while learning about sea turtle biology, life cycles, and the cold-stun phenomenon that drives the season.
The program shines a spotlight on the species most often stranded here, including Kemp's Ridleys, the most endangered sea turtle in the world, and the Mass Audubon rescue work supporting their recovery.
Please note this is an educational program and not a training to become a Mass Audubon volunteer.

Instructions
Beach meeting location (anywhere from Dennis to Truro) and instructions will be determined based on weather and tide conditions and where turtles are most likely found. This information will be shared with participants by email at least one day prior to the program. Please dress warmly and wear footwear that can get wet or muddy.
