Description
Each winter, hundreds of cold-stunned sea turtles wash ashore on Cape Cod Bay beaches, with Kemp's Ridleys—the most endangered sea turtle in the world—making up a significant portion of each season's rescues. Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay is federally permitted to coordinate the rescue and recovery efforts of these stranded turtles off the beaches and works in partnership with the New England Aquarium for their rehabilitation.
Drop in anytime for a behind-the-scenes look at the rescue effort through interactive exhibits, touch tables with real shells and skulls, live animal demonstrations, and activities for all ages. Sanctuary staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions, share the science, and walk you through more than 50 years of rescue history.
