Description
Cape Cod's identity is wrapped up in the ocean but tucked among its pine and oak woodlands lies a quieter world. Deep, clear kettle ponds that are as beautiful as they are fascinating dot the Cape's interior.
On this guided kayak, you'll explore Gull, Higgins, and Williams Ponds while searching for aquatic life both above and below the surface, using nets and observation to investigate the macroinvertebrates that serve as key indicators of water quality.
Along the way, a Wellfleet Bay naturalist will share the stories of the local artists who once called these ponds home and whose work continues to influence art and design today. It's a completely different side of Cape Cod—and one well worth discovering.
