Description
Discover a one-of-a-kind view of Pleasant Bay, the Cape's largest estuary, as you explore its waters by kayak.
Launching from quiet Quanset Pond, you'll paddle through The Narrows to Sipson Island, a newly protected property within Pleasant Bay where the Sipson Island Trust has transformed an island overrun by invasive plants into a thriving sanctuary for native species. A short walk ashore reveals the results of that work up close.
The journey continues to Little Sipson Island for a snack break, with open water views stretching toward Nauset Beach and the Atlantic beyond. Throughout the trip, watch for ospreys, herons, egrets, gray seals, and an impressive variety of mollusks. Expect a physically demanding paddle with unforgettable experiences worth the work.
