Paddle Pleasant Bay: Salt Marshes, Seals, and Oysters

Description

Launch from Meetinghouse Pond and spend the morning paddling through some of the most ecologically rich water on the Outer Cape. Guided by an experienced Wellfleet Bay naturalist and paddler, you'll wind through the salt marshes of the river into the open waters of Upper Pleasant Bay, stopping at historic Kent's Point for sweeping views toward the Atlantic. The journey continues to Kescayogansett Pond, where you'll discover the vital role oysters play in keeping coastal ecosystems healthy.

Throughout the trip, watch resident diamondback terrapins and horseshoe crabs—you may even have the chance to tag a crab as part of active conservation research—while ospreys, kingfishers, herons, egrets, and gray seals keep things lively along the way.
