Description
Wellfleet Bay is one of the top shorebird hotspots on the Outer Cape. On this guided walk, you'll make your way out to the beach and tidal flats alongside a Wellfleet Bay naturalist, scanning the marsh edges and mudflats for the remarkable birds that pass through—Willets, Whimbrels, Black-bellied Plovers, and a variety of smaller peeps staging for their southbound migration.
Along the way, you'll learn how to tell these species apart and discover the incredible life histories behind their journeys, from nesting grounds in the Arctic to wintering spots in South America. The route covers about 1.5 miles at a relaxed pace. Walks are planned throughout the summer, with each outing shaped by the tides for a one-of-a-kind experience.
