Field School: Cape Cod Herbal Immersion

Description

Immerse yourself in the plants of Cape Cod! In this two-day course, we will explore the medicine of the trees, shrubs, and wildflowers of the dunes, fields, woods, and wetlands.

We will spend the weekend hiking the different ecosystems of Cape Cod, learning about the plants we find. Baskets in hand, we will begin with a stroll along the beach to harvest beach rose petals to make into tea, infused honey, and elixir. Could anything be more euphoriant? We will learn the principles of ethical harvest and how to work with the plants and their chemistry to make effective remedies.

We will ask, what does it mean to be a human in relationship with our ecosystem? How can we look to our ecosystems for healing, and how can we, in turn, heal our ecosystems?

Come prepared to delight in the wonder of plants and leave with a bounty of herbal remedies to share with your community!

Mo Katz-Christy (they/them) is a queer Ashkenazi Jewish clinical herbalist and educator in Boston, MA on unceded Massachusett land. They approach herbalism by connecting folks to the knowledge they already have about their body and herbs through working with kitchen medicine, ancestral traditions, and mulberries falling on the sidewalk!

Mo teaches herb classes and programs at over 40 different sites in New England. They work one-on-one with clients, in Somerville and virtually, to address the root imbalances that are causing dysregulation and to promote long-term healing, focusing on gut health. You can find out more about their work at mokatzchristy.com.
