Description
The trail to South Wachusett Brook winds through towering pines and hemlocks before descending to the water's edge, where the sounds of the stream fill the air even on the quietest November days.
Dense colonies of clubmosses carpet the forest floor, and a giant Sugar Maple along the path stands bare against the late-fall sky, a quiet marker of how much the season has shifted. A Wachusett Meadow naturalist will guide your family through this beloved trail, sharing the ecology of the brook and surrounding woodland, drawing your attention to the subtler details that make late fall one of the best times to observe the forest.
