Description
When the moon goes dark, the night sky opens up and the sanctuary takes on a whole different kind of quiet. On this 1.5-2-mile guided hike, you'll wander Wachusett Meadow's meadows and woods as a naturalist shares the seasonal natural history of what's active after dark. From nocturnal animal adaptations to the shifting sounds of the landscape, the new moon reveals a side of the sanctuary most visitors never experience. With no moonlight to dull the sky, it's also one of the year's best chances to take in the stars.
