Description
Wachusett Mountain is one of the most active hawk watching sites in New England, and mid-September puts an astounding number of raptors in the air overhead.
On this guided program, you'll learn to distinguish between major hawk species, eagles, and other diurnal raptors in flight as they stream south on the fall migration, building the visual skills to tell a Broad-winged Hawk from an Osprey at distance. Printed identification guides will be given for reference and long-term study.
We'll also review conservation challenges migrating raptors face and what research and advocacy efforts are working to address them. You'll leave with a new appreciation for, and better understanding of, these winged raptors.
