Description
Wachusett Meadow summers bring fields of greenery, life, and a few surprises. Discover them all in this monthly natural history deep dive.
In July we see ferns in their full summer expression, showcasing this unique plant group that predates flowering plants by hundreds of millions of years. August turns to the grasses, rushes, and sedges that shape the meadow landscape and provide critical habitat for insects and birds. September closes the summer with Monarch Butterflies migrating through the sanctuary on their way to Mexico.
Led by our expert naturalists, each session begins with a brief indoor introduction before spending at least 90 minutes actively exploring the trails and habitats of the sanctuary.
