Join the Journey: Monarch Tagging Day

Description

Every fall, Monarch Butterflies make one of the most extraordinary journeys in the animal kingdom, traveling thousands of miles from New England to central Mexico. Wachusett Meadow has participated in Monarch tagging for many years as part of the continent-wide research effort to track individual butterflies and understand their survival across the migration route.

Here's your chance to join this impactful citizen science project! You'll tag live Monarchs alongside sanctuary staff, learn to identify other fall butterfly species like Ringlets and Wood Nymphs, and discover what steps you can take at home to support Monarchs through habitat and plant choices.
