Description
Trees do something remarkable on hot August afternoons: they cool the air around them, shelter the ground from direct sun, and create pockets of shade that feel entirely different from the open landscape just steps away.
On this family hike, a naturalist leads you to some of the sanctuary's coolest spots while sharing how plants and animals stay comfortable through the summer heat. From shade-seeking wildlife behavior to the measurable temperature differences inside a forest, this walk reveals how deeply nature and climate are connected. Expect to hike 1 to 2 miles over uneven terrain.
