Who's Living in Your Leaf Pile?

Description

That pile of leaves isn't just yard work waiting to happen. Fallen litter is one of nature's busiest neighborhoods, packed with insects and arthropods that most people never think to look for.

On this fall program for families, head outside to investigate leaf piles and discover the creatures making their home there. Bug boxes and magnifiers bring the food web into focus. Find out who's eating the leaves, who's eating the eaters, and why the whole cycle matters for a healthy forest.

Take home a new appreciation for letting the leaves lie, and a clearer sense of how small backyard choices support real biodiversity in your own yard.
