Description
Experience the unique history of Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary with a combined indoor presentation and short outdoor walk to the historic Pike's Pond. Learn about the sanctuary's role in the reintroduction of beavers to Massachusetts in the 1930's. Outside, look for evidence of beavers and other wildlife on the Pike's Pond All Persons Trail. While beavers are typically less active in the middle of the day when we will be outside, you'll learn to make sense of beaver activity on the landscape.
This program will cover up to 0.8 miles on an accessible trail surfaced with crushed stone. Recent weather could make this trail wet or slippery. In the event of dangerous weather, the program will remain completely indoors.
