Description
The evening is a great time to search for wildlife at Pleasant Valley. In this naturalist-guided hike, learn about the sanctuary's resident beavers and how other animals benefit from the ponds that they create. Our route will take us into a mosaic of wetlands built over nearly a century by generations of beavers. As you look for wildlife using these ponds, you'll also learn the story behind the reintroduction of beavers at Pleasant Valley in the 1930's.
This program covers up to 1.5 miles of unsurfaced trail containing a mix of flat ground, gradual slopes, and one or two hills. The trail surface contains exposed tree roots and rocks. Recent weather could make the trail muddy, wet, or slippery. Recent beaver activity or storms could require us to step over fallen tree trunks.
