Description
Glide out onto calm water as afternoon light turns golden and October's reds and oranges reach their peak along the riverbank. This beginner-friendly early evening canoe trip pairs a stunning leaf-peeping experience with prime wildlife-watching hours, when animals grow more active as the day transitions into dusk.
With an experienced naturalist as your guide, you'll paddle a scenic stretch of the Housatonic River and watch for Great Blue Herons, beavers, muskrats, and other wetland wildlife heading into their evening routines. Learn how protected lands support the wildlife habitat and connectivity that keeps these waterways wild.

You will receive an email the day before the program with more information on the meeting location as well as updates on weather, river flow, or other conditions that could affect your program.
Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, warm layers, and footwear that can get wet, such as water shoes; snacks and a dry bag or zip bag for valuables are optional. Mass Audubon policy requires that every participant wears a life vest during the program; you may borrow one from us or bring your own.
