Description
Streams are full of life if you know where to look. Together with your family, explore local waterways with nets and observation tools to discover aquatic insects, small fish, salamanders, and other stream-dwelling animals.
With the help of a naturalist, connect what you find to the larger stream ecosystem and the surrounding landscape. Build curiosity, confidence outdoors, and an understanding of how clean water supports wildlife and people alike.

Instructions
Meet in front of the red barn at Pleasant Valley, on the side facing the wide gravel path. Dress for the weather and wear shoes that can get wet and stay securely on your feet; flip-flops and Crocs are discouraged.
Expect up to one mile of unsurfaced trail with exposed roots and rocks and a couple of hills, and note that recent weather may make footing muddy, wet, or slippery. During stream sampling you may step into ankle-deep moving water, and the streambed can be slick.
