Description
Fall migration brings a new cast of birds through Pleasant Valley's mix of habitats, and early mornings are prime time to see and hear them. This beginner-friendly walk focuses on bird-finding tips, simple identification cues, and observing bird behavior. The Pike's Pond Loop—a mostly flat trail with accessible features—offers a beautiful scenic view of both the pond and Yokun Ridge in the distance.
With an experienced naturalist, you'll look for species arriving, passing through, or staying year-round, and learn how migration works and why it matters. You'll also take away some practical ways to support birds during this critical season.
This program will take place exclusively on the Pike's Pond All Persons Trail, covering less than 0.8 miles on a wide, flat, gravel-paved trail.

Instructions
This program is completely outdoors. Meet in front of the red barn at Pleasant Valley. Your guide will be available to welcome any early arrivals 15 minutes before your program's start time.
The trail distance covered could vary depending on how many birds we see. While most of the walk will take place on a wide, gravel-paved trail, we might extend the route into an unsurfaced trail that may contain exposed tree roots or rocks.
