Description
Discover the incredible creatures that live on the forest floor and visit vernal pools in the spring. At this all-outdoor program, we will introduce you to local amphibian life while searching for species like wood frogs, red efts and spotted salamanders in their natural habitat. You'll also learn what you can do to protect these incredible animals.
This evening program will spend time around wetlands and streams, so waterproof shoes and a flashlight (preferably one with a red light to avoid disturbing wildlife) are great items to bring for this program.
See below for more information about the terrain and distance covered during this program.

Instructions
Meet near the ticketing booth at The Mount. For more information on this site, visit edithwharton.org. Your guide will arrive 15 minutes before the program begins to welcome any early arrivals.
This program will cover up to 1.5 miles of unsurfaced trail, with occasional steps off-trail. The program route contains a few hills or gradual inclines. The trail surface is uneven and could have tripping hazards such as exposed tree roots or rocks. Recent weather could make the trail muddy or slippery.
Dress for the weather. Bring a flashlight if you have one -- ideally one with a red light to avoid disturbing wildlife.
Your guide will email you the day before your program with recent trail conditions or other information prior to your program.
