Birds Beyond Identification - Communication

Description

Whether you have just dipped your toe into the world of birding or are looking for more reasons to enjoy some of your favorite birds, this program takes a deeper dive into the local avian community. We will start each session with a seasonally focused indoor presentation on topics such as bird physiology, life cycles, unique adaptations, and the evolutionary influences on habitat that birds provide. Our introductory presentation will be followed by an outdoor field session to apply what we covered.

If you've ever been confused by birdsong outside your window or in the field, don't miss this opportunity to learn how, why, and most importantly, which birds are singing. Learn about vocalizations, the differences between songs and calls, and how to decipher what you hear now and in the coming months. Come away with the basic skill set needed for listening to the cacophony of spring calls and tools for identifying new and unusual songs.
