Birds Beyond Identification - Raptors

Whether you have just dipped your toe into the world of birding or are looking for more reasons to enjoy some of your favorite birds, this program takes a deeper dive into the local avian community. We will start each session with a seasonally focused indoor presentation on topics such as bird physiology, life cycles, unique adaptations and the evolutionary influences on habitat that birds provide. Our introductory presentation will be followed by an outdoor field session to apply what we covered.

Late Fall and early Winter bring us plenty of opportunities to study and explore the soaring predators of the sky. Discover several species of raptors that use Marshfield's open space to hunt with an opportunity to observe them during our outdoor field session. Learn tips on species identification, the role each species plays in the web of habitats, and the special adaptations that often make raptors the "gateway bird" into the popular pastime of birding.
