Birding Explorations: Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary

Description

Join the South East region education staff as we bird and explore Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary.

Allens Pond offers 9 miles of trails through hundreds of acres of protected beaches, fields, woodlands, and saltmarsh habitats. We will explore each habitat looking for resident and migratory birds with an eye toward finding Saltmarsh Sparrows.

Please note that this program starts at the North River Sanctuary in Marshfield. Due to the nature of the program we are unable to accommodate meeting or picking up participants once we have departed the sanctuary.

Transportation will be provided from the North River Sanctuary leaving at 7:00 am.

Please note that this program starts at the North River Sanctuary in Marshfield. Due to the nature of the program we are unable to accommodate meeting or picking up participants once we have departed the sanctuary.

This trip includes walks in varying terrains and habitats.

Wear sturdy shoes and dress in weather-appropriate layers.

Spotting scopes are welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them, or borrow a pair from us.

This is an extended program, pack a bag lunch and bring snacks and water.

Driving North or South on Rt 3:

Take Exit 27 (Rt 139, Marshfield/Pembroke). Turn onto Rt 139 east and go 3 miles to Rt 3A. Turn left (north) and follow Rt 3A for 4.6 miles to sanctuary entrance on right.
