Birding by Van

Description

All aboard! We are loading up the van and heading out to local hotspots across the South Shore, finding birds from the comfort of a shared vehicle and stopping now and then for short, level-ground looks at whatever has caught everyone's eye.

February belongs to the mixed flocks moving through the winter woods. Follow a band of Black-capped Chickadees to see who is traveling with them, with Downy Woodpeckers usually bringing up the rear.

A naturalist guide points out species and shares identification tips as the landscape rolls by. Birders of every experience level are welcome. This is a sociable, accessible way to explore bird life without the hike.

Checking registration status.

The program travels by van to local birding destinations, with occasional short walks on level ground if something interesting turns up nearby. Most of the time is spent in the vehicle.
