Description
Hop into the exciting world of vernal pools. These shallow woodland pools fill with snowmelt and spring rain, hold water just long enough for a whole generation of amphibians to get started, and then dry up by summer.
Follow the trails with a naturalist to find them, then look closely for frogs, salamander egg masses, insects, and the tiny wetland wonders that make a temporary puddle one of the busiest places in the March woods. Bring your curiosity and your best eye for small things.
